NBO, Fix My Children’s Bedroom

My client was 36 weeks pregnant and was about to go on bedrest.  She had a son who was in the 3rd grade and his current room would be shared with the new baby.  Mom has no idea how to divide the room for her oldest and the baby and getting placed on bedrest just added another layer of complexity.

The NBO D.R.E.A.M Process

DREAM:

I made space for mom to dream of the perfect room for big brother & baby which included both beds, play & study zones, and a system that big brother can gain more independence

REALIGN

We agreed on what needed to be in the room to accomplish the goal and identified the items that had to go & where we could improve the storage spaces.

ELIMINATE

We removed every item that did not align with either child, donated outgrown & unwanted clothes & toys, and discarded any unwanted items not able to be donated.

ASSIGN

After we removed the closet doors and had shelves added to the closet, we started to decide how much room big brother needed for clothes, shoes, & toys.  And added baskets & hooks on the wall to hold his books & games.  Then we were able to clear the dresser for baby bother’s clothes & things.  After repositioning the bed, we were able to create space for the new crib.

MATCH

We chose white baskets to blend into the white walls & chose a color pallet for the baskets that could work with a variety of color schemes.
